Following consultations with electricity industry (ESI) stakeholders on draft bicycle contracts and interconnection codes, the Authority approved and adopted, at its 284th meeting on 8 September 2017, the implementation documents by all ESI licensees involved in network and wheel activities. In April 2016, the Electricity Regulatory Authority, with the support of the GETFIT MS program. Intec GOPA – International Energy Consultants, commissioned international energy consultants to develop standardized models of link codes and bicycle contracts, including the methodology for determining bicycle charges. Click here for the information brochure on the process and prices of crossing the Eskom networks due to bilateral trade. Some of these on-board generators may be sold to the individual buyer through approved power purchase contracts, while others may want to invest energy to third parties. Generators that want to drive energy face a number of challenges related to the use of system royalties. See Wheeling 30 March.pdf which exposes the context of cycling within South Africa`s borders. Future opportunities for IPPs and Generators will be primarily determined by the PRI framework and the definition of capacity availability for IPPs and generators by the IRP and the government. Non-eskom generators and escom generators are treated in the same way in terms of access, but generators must be allowed to generate and act before access can be guaranteed. Generators have the same non-discriminatory rights to access the network as a charge, according to the transport network code and the distribution network code. Generators and loads are the network manager`s two customers. Click here for the standard price schedule, which will be changed as soon as NERSA`s national framework is approved.
Loads pay a published and approved fee for the use of the network and may be an explicitly unbundled fee or not. Currently, there is no regulatory framework for the use of system charges for on-board generators (generators connected to the distribution network), but NERSA is developing a framework for generators.
